Errol Spence Jr. has been forced to withdraw from his fight with eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao next weekend due to a torn retina in his left eye, Dan Rafael reported Tuesday evening on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.” Former WBC and IBF welterweight champion Yordenis Ugás will take the American fighter’s place for this historic event.

Ugás has been in the boxing ring for 26 fights, and is coming off a September 2020 victory. His opponent? Abel Ramos from Spain. It was not an easy win as Ugá’s eight-fight winning streak came to an end against Shawn Porter last year.
Ugás had his ups and downs but prevailed over one of Europe’s finest fighters on Wednesday night with 12 KOs left unanswered by Ramirez even though he put up good resistance throughout this fight that lasted two rounds only!
Manny Pacquiao, the boxing champion who is poised to face Floyd Mayweather in a highly anticipated match this year, took to Twitter on Thursday evening and wished his opponent recovery after he was injured.
Fighter Manny Pacquiao has expressed concerns for opponent Keith Thurman’s injury that happened just shortly before their planned fight last night; it would have been one of three major fights set up by Showtime Sports at Barclays Center Friday April 20th. The undefeated welterweight said “I wish you speedy recovery.” He also made sure people know they are still fighting as scheduled but will not be able to go past 12 rounds due to Spence being unable too box with an eye problem from thumping punches when defending against Errol Spence Jr
In an interview on Thursday, boxing champion Spence said that he was looking to retire Manny Pacquiao after their bout in Las Vegas.
